What a train type tells you
Indian Railways does not run one kind of long-distance train, it runs about a dozen, and the differences between them are real. The category decides whether the whole train is air-conditioned, whether meals come with the fare, how many halts it makes, what priority it gets when the line is busy, and how much the journey costs.
Each list here gives every train of that type with its number, name, origin, destination, distance and average speed, so you can compare services on the route you are travelling instead of guessing from the name.
